About this tool

AI Comic Studio is a free online comic book and web novel studio with a three-stage workflow: script and panel layout, AI-generated artwork per panel, then lettering with speech bubbles and comic SFX. Built for western comics, graphic novels, and web-novel adaptations, it helps solo creators plan multi-chapter books, import chapter prose, keep characters consistent with a cast bible, and export print-ready PDF, CBZ, vertical strips, or EPUB — all in the browser with optional cloud sync.

What you can do

  • Three-stage pipeline — script & layout, panel artwork, then lettering
  • Guided demo — full page walkthrough with no AI tokens required
  • Panel templates — US comic grid, splash, 2×2, vertical strip, and classic 5-panel
  • Book outline — plan every chapter page; batch script and art generation
  • Import scripts — paste a web novel chapter or upload .txt to split into page scripts
  • AI panel art with cast tagging for character consistency across chapters
  • Style presets — superhero, graphic novel, noir, slice-of-life, fantasy, web novel
  • Speech bubbles, comic SFX (POW, BAM), speed lines, and genre lettering presets
  • Trim sizes — US comic (6.625×10.25 in), A4, B5, and vertical webcomic
  • Export PNG, PDF, CBZ, vertical strip, EPUB, ZIP, and social crops
  • Story Studio sync — turn novel or web novel chapters into comic page scripts when signed in
  • Auto-save in browser; cloud save and read-only share links with a free account

Create Comic Books & Web Novels with AI Comic Studio — Free Online

Western comics and web-novel adaptations need clear panel rhythm, bold lettering, and consistent characters across chapters. AI Comic Studio walks you through script and layout, AI panel art, and lettering with speech bubbles and comic SFX—the same pipeline indie comic creators use, in your browser. Plan graphic novels with the outline tool, import chapter prose from Story Studio, tag your cast for continuity, and export print-ready PDF, CBZ, vertical strips, or EPUB. Prefer manga layouts? Try AI Manga Studio.

How to use it

  1. Try the demo or pick a genre preset (superhero, graphic novel, web novel, noir, slice of life) to start with layout and sample script.
  2. Step 1 — Layout & script: choose a panel template, write or import your page script, then continue to artwork.
  3. Step 2 — Artwork: tag cast for consistency, describe each panel, then generate or upload art per panel.
  4. Step 3 — Lettering: place dialogue in speech balloons, add comic SFX and effects, then export PDF, CBZ, or vertical strip.

Tips for fiction authors

  • AI draws panel artwork only — you letter dialogue in step 3 so text stays sharp at any resolution.
  • Describe action, camera angle, and expression in panel prompts; avoid expecting AI to add speech bubbles.
  • Tag characters in the cast bible and per panel so faces and costumes stay consistent across chapters.
  • Use the book outline to draft many pages at once, then generate artwork page by page or in batch.
  • Import a web novel chapter from Story Studio or paste prose to auto-split into page scripts.
  • Superhero presets favor dynamic wides; graphic novel favors cinematic pacing; web novel uses vertical full-color framing.
  • Export a vertical strip for Tapas or Webtoon CANVAS; use the publish checklist for platform specs.
Not for you if…
  • You expect finished speech balloons with zero lettering pass — AI draws panel art; step 3 places dialogue from your script (auto-place or manual).
  • You need motion comics or animated panels — this exports static pages and strips.
  • You need real-time team collaboration — use cloud save and share links instead.

Common questions

Is AI Comic Studio free?

Yes, and the numbers are worth knowing. Layout, lettering and export are unlimited in your browser and need no account. The AI parts are capped per visitor, counted by IP address and in total rather than per day: 12 panel-art generations, 3 script breakdowns, and 15 AI assists. Pro and Ultra lift all three. The guided demo uses no AI tokens.

Does Pro or Premium cap daily or monthly comic panel generations?

No. Pro and Ultra have no daily or monthly panel-art caps. The one ceiling is fair use by the hour — 200 generations an hour on Pro and Ultra, 20 on the free tier — so a runaway loop cannot burn provider spend. Layout, lettering, and export stay unlimited.

What is the difference between AI Comic Studio and AI Manga Studio?

AI Comic Studio targets western comics, graphic novels, and web-novel adaptations with US comic defaults and comic-book presets. AI Manga Studio targets manga and webtoons with Japanese trim sizes and shōnen/shōjo presets. Both share the same panel art engine and export formats.

Can I turn my web novel into a comic?

When signed in, link a Story Studio project to pull synopsis and characters, import chapter prose into page scripts, or paste a chapter to auto-split into pages. You still edit layouts and lettering manually for best results.

Does AI add speech bubbles or dialogue?

No — AI generates panel artwork only. You add speech bubbles and dialogue in the lettering step so text stays sharp, editable, and export-ready at 150–300 DPI.

Can I make a Tapas or Webtoon comic?

Yes. Choose the vertical webcomic trim and strip templates, export a vertical strip PNG, or use social crop presets. The publish checklist lists Tapas and Webtoon CANVAS size guidelines.

What page sizes are supported?

US comic (6.625×10.25 in), A4, B5, and vertical webcomic. Exports respect your trim size at 150 or 300 DPI.

Can I upload my own art?

Yes. Upload JPEG, PNG, or WebP into any panel, or use your Entangled Text media library when signed in. Lettering and export remain free even if you skip AI art.

What export formats are available?

Print PDF, PNG (single page), CBZ comic archive, ZIP (pages + project data), vertical webcomic strip, EPUB, and social crops for Instagram, Stories, and X headers.

Is my project stored on your servers?

Projects auto-save in your browser. Cloud save, share links, and Story Studio sync are optional and require a free account. AI-generated images are stored temporarily for download.

How does this compare to the book cover generator?

Both share the same AI art backend and Pro / Ultra quota. The cover tool builds a single KDP-ready image with typography; AI Comic Studio focuses on multi-panel pages, continuity, and comic export formats.

Can I turn text into comic panels for free?

Yes. Import a script or paste a chapter in step 1 and the studio breaks it into pages and panels; step 2 draws the art. What the AI does not do is write your dialogue or letter the bubbles — that part is yours. Free covers 12 panel-art generations and 3 script breakdowns per visitor, in total, with no account.

Can I make my own comic without installing anything?

Yes. Make your own comic in the browser: pages, panels, speech bubbles and export all run on your machine, and only the panel art and script help call the AI. It suits a web comic or a printed page equally, because you choose the page size before you export.

Can I read AI comics here?

No — this is a maker, not a library. There is nothing published here to browse. You bring a script or a chapter, build the pages yourself, and export them as images or PDF to publish wherever you like.
